Clarke’s K9’s FAQ’s

Will I get to meet you before you walk my dog?

Absolutely. I offer a free consultation to meet you and your furry friends before we decide on anything.
This gives us both a chance to ask questions, spend some time with your pet and put your mind at ease.

How many dogs are walked at one time?

I will walk a maximum of 4 dogs together at any one time.

What areas do you cover?

I provide services in Tranent, Macmerry, Ormiston, Port Seton, Prestonpans, Pencaitland and surrounding areas.

Do you allow dogs off the lead?

Only with your written consent and if I am happy with their recall. It also depends on our location. Safety is my number one priority.

Where will you walk my dog?

Your dog will be walked in a variety of locations, from the beach to forest walks. Each day will be a different walk to areas where your furbabies are guaranteed a great adventure, physical and mental stimulation and FUN.

What do you do when it rains?

I get wet! I walk in rain, hail or shine. When I return your pet I will make sure their coat and paws are towelled down and they have fresh water to drink.

How long does each walk last?

Each walk last a minimum of one hour and any travel time is NOT taken from your dogs walking time.

Are you insured?

Yes, I hold a full public liability insurance with Cliverton Insurance.  You will be provided with a copy of this during your free consultation.

Are you police checked?

Yes, I hold a Disclosure Scotland certificate which I will bring to your free consultation.

How do you collect and drop off my dog?

I shall require a key to allow me to collect and drop off your dog.  Your keys will be coded and will not have your name and address attached to them. They will be stored safely and securely.  Your home will be treated with the utmost respect and only myself will have access as agreed.

Does my dog need to wear a collar and a tag?

Yes. The Control of Dogs Order requires that dogs wear a collar and a tag showing the name and address of the owner.  The Control of Dogs Order 1992 states that “every dog while in a place of public resort shall wear a collar with the name and address of the owner inscribed on the collar or on a plate or badge attached to it”.

What happens in the case of an emergency?

In the unlikely event of an emergency I will inform you immediately.  If you dogs requires veterinary attention I will take him/her to your own vet or to the nearest veterinary surgery, depending on the degree of urgency.  I am fully trained in Pet First Aid and Canine CPR.

Is there anything else I should know?

Yes, your pets should be up to date with their vaccinations along with tick and flea treatments.  I am unable to accept males who have not been neutered or females who are in season.  Dogs who are uncomfortable around other dogs or have major behavioral issues are unsuitable for group walks.

Last but by certainly by no means least….your dog will have a great time!!
